Eat Healthy

Hallelujah Acres and Dr. Joel Fuhrman, MD have had tremendous success helping people to overcome health problems by adhering to a healthy diet.  The following is some of the information that I learned from them, along with more health tips that I discovered through additional personal research.  No matter what medical challenges you are currently facing I believe the following can be of great help to you:

—  Start your morning by drinking a glass of lemon water.  If you don’t have time to cut a lemon and squeeze it into water then you can use a packet of True Lemon. You can add a packet of stevia for a touch of extra sweetness.

—  Drink a “green juice” before you eat your breakfast.  By green juice, I’m referring to either freshly juiced greens or a green powder mixed in water like BarleyMaxMint by Hallelujah Acres.  For a more affordable option, you can use Country Farms Super Greens powder instead. And you can add stevia for a nice sweet taste.

Note: If you have a serious health problem then double the amount of green juice.

 For Breakfast Have the Following:

Wholegrain cereal with the following toppings:

Organic Fruit Toppings — e.g. blueberries, raisins

Ground Flaxseed

Wheatgerm

Unsalted, Raw Nuts/Seeds

Stevia

Organic nut, rice, coconut milk, or low-fat regular milk

Note: Hallelujah Acres does not recommend dairy products.  Dr. Fuhrman believes it’s okay if you limit them to only two or less servings per week.  To learn more about Dr. Fuhrman’s recommendations please see his Nutritarian Pyramid. To learn more about Hallelujah Acres’ recommendations please see Explanation of the Hallelujah Diet.

In addition to the wholegrain cereal, have another piece of fruit, such as a banana.  You may also like to have So DeliciousSilk, or Oikos Triple Zero yogurt.

— Between Meals Drink Organic Carrot Juice or Carrot Juice Powder in Water.

For carrot juice powder you can use CarrotJuiceMax powder or capsules by Hallelujah Acres.  For a more affordable option, you may want to get Carrot Essence Powder.

Note: If you have a serious health problem please double the amount of carrot juice powder or capsules.

— For Lunch and Supper You Have the Following:
A large green salad with cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, mustard greens, and watercress. You can also add what Dr. Joel Fuhrman calls G-BOMBS: greens, [salad] beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, and seeds.

Hallelujah Acres recommends using a convenient, homemade salad box.

Then have a plate with one-fourth a green vegetable, such as cruciferous Brussels sprouts, collard greens, and kale.

To help keep your fruits and vegetables fresh you can use Fridge Fresh.

Put a yellow/orange vegetable, such as turnips or sweet potato, on one-fourth of your plate.

Put a wholegrain food, such as brown rice or pasta, on one-fourth of the plate.

A put a healthy protein, such as beans or organic, lean chicken, on the remaining on one-fourth of your plate.

For lunch away from home, you can make a healthy sandwich with whole grain bread, a piece of fruit, and/or baked chips.  You can also pack a salad if you wish.  For further lunch ideas please see:

Note: Hallelujah Acres does not recommend using any animal products, whereas Dr. Fuhrman says it’s okay to do so sparingly: two or less servings per week. In addition to saturated fat and bad cholesterol, many animal products are tainted with growth hormones and other toxins.  The documentary film Food Inc. helped to expose this.

Sad to say, pesticides and herbicides are often sprayed on produce products.  That’s why trying to eat organic fruits and vegetables as much as possible is essential.  And if you can’t eat organic then get a produce cleaner and thoroughly clean your food before you eat them.  Your local supermarket may have it or you can get it online.

Another thing you want to avoid is genetically modified foods (GMOs).  They are toxic to the body and detrimental to good health.

When you go to the supermarket please check for foods that are organic and non-GMO verified.  An example of that is Barbara’s Honey Nut Cereal. You can get it at your local supermarket or online.

Some may say it’s too expensive to eat organic and non-GMO. However, eating healthy can save you money in the long run by saving you money on doctor bills and medicines.  Also, you can save even more money if you grow your own food. Check the blog Victory Garden Plus for information about growing your own garden, including container gardens for those who have limited space.

Special Seasonings

Salt causes my heart to beat to fast and my ankles and legs to become painfully swollen.  So instead of using salt, I use the tasty alternative Mrs. Dash.  Mrs. Dash comes in a variety of flavors such as Garlic and Herb and Italian Medley.  You can get it at your local supermarket or order it online.

Another place where you can get no or low sodium items is the Healthy Heart Market. They have a vast amount of different types of products to choose from, including beans, bread, snacks, canned veggies, soups, and recipe books. So if you can’t find what you need at your local supermarket you can check their website.

A nice, healthy butter alternative is Earth Balance Buttery Spread. I don’t recommend Smart Balance because I noticed that their product contains an artificial ingredient.

Sunbutter is a nice and healthy alternative to peanut butter. Sunbutter and organic fruit spread are delicious together. Spread on wholegrain or gluten-free bread for a nutritious lunch or treat.

All-Natural Sweet Treats

In addition to being sensitive to salt, my body also rebels against to much sugar.  I’ve been told that I’m a borderline or pre-diabetic. So I looked for sugar-free treats. Unfortunately, many sugar-free treats have artificial sweeteners in them. Artificial Sweeteners such as aspartame and sucralose are unhealthy.  Thankfully there are all-natural sugar substitutesavailable such as stevia which is made from a plant.

Dangerous Cookware
Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. That’s very concerning because people often cook in aluminum cookware. Non-stick Teflon is another concern because it has been linked to cancer and birth defects.

Microwave Oven Alert
Microwave ovens have been reported to cause cancer. The following video explains the dangers, and also suggests healthier alternatives.

Why You Should Never Use A Microwave

The Hidden Hazards Of Microwave Cooking

If you decide to continue using a microwave oven, then you may want to invest in a device that helps block out the radiation waves from microwave ovens. A company called Safespace makes products that can protect people from harmful electromagnetic fields and radiation. In addition to microwaves, their products can also product people from the damaging effects of cell/smartphones, computers, wifi routers, cell towers, smart meters, et cetera.

The Cost of Healthy Eating

Some people say it’s too expensive to eat healthy. However, in the long run, it’s more cost effective to eat healthy because you will save a lot of money on medical bills and medicine. Plus, if you want you can grow your food by having a victory garden.

In addition, after you start to eat healthy you may experience what is known as a healing crisis. You may temporarily have some discomfort and unpleasant symptoms as your body starts to detox and heal. This is normal, temporary, and actually a step in the right direction. After the healing crisis is over you should start to have way more energy and better health.
